December 2006 Score Card — Part I: Net Worth
Post viewed 601 times, 1 so far today

This is just a quick summary of how our net worth changed at the end of December 2006 from the previous month. As I am writing a detailed review on our net worth, which will be out tomorrow, I don't want to duplicate the contents.
As of December 31st, 2006, our net worth was $458,992, excluding house and auto related items. Compared to the same time one month earlier, the net increase is $36,558, or a gain of 8.65%. The bigger than before increase of our net worth in the past month was largely, again, due to the astonishing performance of China Life Insurance (LFC) which gained more than 37% during the same period and that alone contributed more than $18K to our net worth. Separately, we have
- $11,661 in credit debts due to holiday related spendings and those cheap stuff I purchased. This category was up more 10% from the previous month.
- $36,484 in cash reserve, up 23% from November since we got one more paycheck in December.
- $218,348 in taxable investment accounts, increased nearly 12% from a month ago.
- $186,819 in retirement accounts which gained nearly 4% from November.
- $5,738 in 529 accounts which gained another healthy 7% in December.
- $23,264 in bond investments, flat from November as we only added $100 I-bond during the last month.
