Update: Check out the Firstrade promotion post to see how you can get 5 commission free trades plus $20 bonus when opening a Firstrade account.
Firstrade is having a triple sign-up bonus promotion. Open an account with Firstrade between now and April 16, 2007 and fund the new account within 30 days after the account is opened to
- Receive 100 commission-free trades for funds of $2,000 or more

- Receive 100 commission-free trades and up to $100 ACAT rebate as well as a $100 cash bonus credited to the account for funds of $50,000 or more
The terms and conditions to receive the bonuses are:
Offer valid for one new individual, custodial, or joint account opened between 2/15/2007 - 4/16/2007 and funded with at least $2,000 in equity within 30 days of account open date. To receive $100 account transfer rebate, account must be funded with $25,000 or more in equity within 30 days of account open date. To receive $100 cash bonus, account must be funded with $50,000 or more in equity within 30 days of account open date. Account must remain open with minimum required funding for 9 months, or Firstrade may charge the account for the cash awarded to the account. IRA and other retirement accounts are not eligible. Offer is not transferable and not valid with internal transfers, current Firstrade accounts or with other offers. Qualified commission-free Internet equity orders (maximum value $6.95 per trade) must execute within 45 days of account funding. You must apply for the transfer fee reimbursement offer by completing and submitting a Firstrade Account Transfer Rebate Form and an account statement providing proof of imposed transfer fees. Account Transfer Reimbursement Request forms and proof of transfer fees can be mailed or faxed to Firstrade. Submission must be postmarked within 90 days of account opening. Reimbursement will be made to your account via a credit approximately 6 - 8 weeks after receipt of the Account Transfer Rebate Form and proof of transfer fees. Free trade credits and cash back bonus will be credited to your approximately 6-8 weeks after funding date. Limit one offer per customer. Taxes related to Firstrade offers are your responsibility.
It seems to be a good promotion, but too bad that IRA accounts don’t qualify. Also, the T&C says “Qualified commission-free Internet equity orders (maximum value $6.95 per trade) must execute within 45 days of account funding.” Does it mean that the 100 bonus trades are only good for 45 days? Who’s gonna make 100 trades in 45 days?
Anyway, if you want to open an account and need a referral, email me so I can refer you. In this case, you will receive 5 free trades and I will get 5 as well, plus 100 “Trading Points.”
