Ohio CollegeAdvantage 529 Plan $25 Bonus Is Back, Again

It looks like the popular referral program is back.

When I logged into my account last night to do my monthly calculations, I noticed that CollegeAdvantage is offering $25 referral bonus for every new account again. Last year, our daughter’s account got a huge boost when $50 bonus offered. Though this time, the bonus isn’t as sweet as last time, it’s still a nice *gift* if you are thinking of getting a CollegeAdvantage account.

If you are not familiar with the Ohio CollegeAdvantage 529 Savings Plan, it was named by Morningstar asĀ one of the best 529 college savings plans multiple times in the past few years. It is a direct-sold college savings program (thus the low cost) with funds from Vanguard and PIMCO, etc. I have been using CollegeAdvantage since 2005 and am very happy with it. Recently I switched one account (not the CollegeAdvantage) to the Virginia Education Savings Trust (VEST) to take advantage of the tax breaks offered to Virginia residents and may switch the other account to VEST, which is also one of the best plans, as well. But I plan to keep the money already invested in the account even if no new contribution will be made after the switch.

Anyway, if you are interested in opening a 529 account with CollegeAdvantage and receiving the bonus (and make some money yourself), simply follow these steps:

  • Go to Ohio CollegeAdvantage and open an account before June 30, 2010;
  • When asked, enter reference code 2331122 to open the account in order to receive the bonus;
  • Fund the account with at least $25 to qualify for the bonus;
  • Receive the bonus in 7 t0 10 business days;
  • Use the $25 bonus you just earned to start saving right away;
  • Refer your colleagues and friends to CollegeAdvantage plan and earn more bonuses yourself.
