Last month, I wrote an article on S&P 500 high dividend paying stocks. Over the weekend, Barron’s released a video with more explanations on the S&P dividend aristocrats.
Nowadays dividend yield itself doesn’t tell much of the story. You can find plenty of stocks pay 10+% dividend yield only because the share prices have been beaten down so much, not becaue of steady dividend payout increases. Dividend aristocrats, on the other hand, are different becaue they all have a long tracking record of increasing dividend payments every year. In this economy and stock market, dividend is making an even more important piece in your investments, but you have to stick with quality dividend paying stocks. The S&P dividend aristocrats are the good place to start.
