American Express Green Business Rewards Card 5,000 Points Promotion

Here’s another choice if you are looking for a business credit card with rewards.

A couple of weeks ago, I wrote about a business card offering from Citibank, the CitiBusiness ThankYou Card, that allows new card members to earn $150 as a bonus after meeting the spending requirement. It’s quite common these days for card issuers to require a certain amount of money be spent before the bonus can be awarded. Use the CitiBusiness ThankYou Card as an example, if you are a new cardholder, you can only receive the $150 bonus after you spend at least $3,000 within the first 3 months of becoming a member. Even though this has become a practice that’s widely used among credit card issuers, not every card has such a requirement. Of course, as you can imagine, the bonuses from cards with no spending requirements will not be as generous as those from cards that do have the requirements.

If you are looking for a business credit card that offers bonus and rewards without spending requirement, you may want to take a look at the Green Business Rewards Card from American Express OPEN. As a new cardholder, you can earn 5,000 bonus Membership Rewards Points after making the first purchase with the card, no matter how much you spend. Like many AMEX credit cards, the Membership Rewards Points earned can be used to redeem for travel, merchants, gift cards, even statement credits.

Now let’s take a look at the rewards program. With the Green Business Rewards Card, you are able to earn:

  • 1 Point for every dollar spent on purchases
  • 2 Points for every dollar spent with American Express Travel
  • Up to 10 Points for every dollar spent at membershiprewards.com/earn, AMEX’s online rewards shopping website

There’s no limit on how many points you can earn and the points you earned will never expire, as long as you keep your card in good standing of course. And in addition to the above mentioned benefits, cardholders can also enjoy

  • Baggage insurance
  • Car rental loss and damage insurance
  • Roadside assistance
  • Purchase protection
  • Identity theft assistance
  • Extended warranty

There is, however, a price to pay for this card. The annual membership fee is $95, even though the fee is waived for the first year. But if you are a business owner who also provides your employees with business cards, then the Green Business Rewards Card could be a good choice because there’s no membership fee for employee cards and, at the same time, you will earn all the rewards from purchases made with the employee cards :)
