American Express Offers Cardholders Free Annual Credit Score & Report

When I got a free Experian PLUS score from American Express this time last year, I thought it was a one-time thing, like other free one-time offers I got from other places. Now, it looks like I am wrong on that.

Yesterday, I received an email from AMEX, which informed me that I can get the complementary credit score & credit report again from American Express. Since I already registered last time when the offer was available, getting an updated score and report was pretty easy this time around: Log in with my American Express user name and password, then provide again my SSN to verify my identity before the score and report is displayed. Though the credit score is a Experian PLUS score, not a FICO score, I have not complain when it is free. Just like those free scores offered by Credit Karma and Quizzle (which also offers a free credit report for every six months), I use the Experian PLUS score to have a rough idea of my score. If I want to know exactly where it is, I will have to buy a FICO score.

The score and report is available for free for 30 days online. After that, you will have to wait for another year before you are eligible for another score and report. See my previous post through the link above to learn more about this free offer. More information about Experian PLUS score and other FAKO scores is available in the credit score types and ranges post.
