Fascinating! I know where you are coming from. My credit union has done a few questionable things to me, but they have a branch near my house and i’ve been with them for over 15 years. Also, joining another credit union will make a mark on my credit report which would bring my score down right now, and i would like to refinance. So in that sense, I am like you. I am not completely happy with my credit union, but i feel that it wouldnt make one bit of difference in the big picture if I moved banks, perhaps it would be all in vain as all banks and credit unions at some point dissapoint their members.

She is not alone. While we don’t know what her credit history is like, she is perfectly justified to complain about an action to her BofA card where she had a perfect record. Basically BofA is preventing her from getting ahead, at a time when she lost her job. They wouldnt negotiate any terms with her, she had no choice but to make her protest. I admire her and I join her. My experience in just this week with two cards being closed for no reason has made me completely furious with BofA. I’m on my way to pay off and close all my BofA credit cards and accounts, and guess what? I won’t be considering them for my refinance. I too have a BofA ATM card because its convenient when i travel. A little planning on my part and I’ll find myself not really needing it.

While I see where you are coming from and everyone should make decisions based on their own personal situation, please do not be afraid to sacrifice to send a message to these banks, the world will be a better place for it.

{sigh} I don’t like to be doctrinaire,but I’m afraid I’m with Jeff and with the people behind this movement. These greedy corporate empires are not good for America and not good for the average man, woman, and child on the street.

Convenient? What’s convenient about doing business with an outfit that won’t answer the phone when you have a problem–that routes your call, when you can get past the phone tree at all, to some CSR who isn’t even in this country and who nine times out of ten can’t answer your question?

For ATM users, most credit unions belong to a network that makes free ATM use widely available.

That is the problem with America. People continue to do business with an unethical and immoral company because “they treat me well”. If they were employing children and paying them .15 cents an hour, would you still do business with them? What if they used their profits to buy politicians off to vote against what America stands for?

I left Chase because of their role in this whole mess. Their customer service was great but I didn’t agree with what they were doing with the profits made from my money. I voted with my wallet. You should do the same.
