Bank of America’s New Online Banking Interface

looks good.
When I logged into my Bank of America account last week, I noticed that they have a new interface for online banking. The redesigned tool includes several improvements that aim to make account activities easier to manage. Among the changes made:
- Easily find and sort transactions using type and status icons
- Personalize your account activity - a check can now be Check 1234:Rent
- Reconcile your account online - simply change the C icon to R
The new interface introduces a set of icons to replace the old two-column display of credit and debt. Once an item is cleared, a proper icon is assigned so I easily see what are still pending. And I can sort the Type column as well.
What I found most useful is that now I am able to edit the description of a check online. For example, the above Check 1707 doesn’t have a description at first, so I don’t know exactly what it’s fore. Once I clicked the Edit link, a new screen showed up to let me enter the description of the check.

If I don’t want to go back to my check book to find out what I wrote in the Memo of this check, I can simply click the View Front link which will conveniently bring up the image of the check so I know exactly what this check is for.
Now I can enter my description.

Among the half a dozen online bank accounts I have, this is the first one that has such a functionality. Though it won’t make me feel like I want to switch to BoA if I don’t have the account already, it’s at least a big improvement that makes account management much easier to do.

Yes, I like the new changes on BOA website. One improvement would be great if somehow the website memorize the category you assign to a type of transaction. Currently you have to manually assign for every transaction even they are the same. But overall the new changes definately keep me staying with them.
Thanks for the information.

Yes, I agree the new BOA features are nice, HOWEVER…clicking the icon for reconcile does not save. I called their customer service line and the agent just said ‘Yeah, I noticed that too’. I went through several months of transactions to reconcile, only to find they were all set back to ‘C’s the next day. In some instances, it may save for a day or 2, then revert back. Has anyone experienced this, or is there a way that I am unaware of to make them save? I’d love to use this feature!
