Citi® Dividend Platinum Select® Visa® Card $100 Bonus and 5% Cashback Categories

The Citi® Dividend Platinum Select® Visa® Card is a cash rewards credit card from Citibank that lets you earn cash back on every purchase. The card also has rotating shopping categories that allow cardholders earn additional rebates. Earn 5% cash back from Citi at Home Depot, Home furnishing stores and home and garden stores between 4/1/13 and 6/30/13, with enrollment. Plus, for a limited time, Citi is offering $100 cash bonus for new cardholders for using the card. 

If you are not familiar with the Dividend Platinum Select® Visa® Card, it is a rewards credit card from Citi that allows cardholders earn extra cash back every quarter when shopping in certain categories. As you can see, the Dividend Platinum Select Visa Card works like some other cash back rewards credit cards in that the bonus rewards categories are not fixed, but rotates every three months. In general, cardholders earn 1% cash back for using the card on every eligible purchase, but every quarter there are a few categories that reward members with extra 4% cash back. This is much like how some other cards reward their members, such as the Chase Freedom Card and the Discover Card, these days, both of them also have those bonus rewards categories that rotate every quarter. But there’s a trick. With the Dividend Platinum Select® Visa® Card, in order to earn the extra cash backs, you will need to remember to enroll your card every quarter for shopping in the bonus categories.  I don’t think Citi is the only issuers that does this (requiring enrollment to earn the bonus rewards), but this is a step that’s really not necessary. Why don’t make it automatic?

The cash backs you earned with this card are rewarded as Citi  Dividend Dollars. Every calendar year, there’s a limit of $300 cash back you can earn with the card. However, if you use the card to shop at Citi Bonus Cash Center, you will be able to earn unlimited 5% cash back  on average for everything you purchased and cash back earned from Citi Bonus Cash Center is not subject to the limit. Citi Bonus Cash Center currently has more than 400 merchants stores in its network. The dividend Dollars you earned will not expire though as long as you have qualifying purchase activity at least once every 12 months, which is also a good way to keep the card active and avoid being closed by the bank.

If you are interested in this card, for a limited time you can get $100 bonus cash after spending only $500 in the first three months of becoming a new account holder. The spending limit for the bonus is quite hight comparing to new account bonuses from other card issuers, but the reward is also far greater than similar offers. So if you are a big spender on credit cards, this Dividend Platinum Select® Visa® Card from Citi could be a tool to accumulate some handsome rewards.
