Got Our Economic Stimulus Payment, but
Post viewed 500 times, 2 so far today
There are apparently some discrepancies among what we think we should get, what we were told we will get, and what we actually got!
Last Friday, when I checked our checking account balance, I noticed a payment of $201.10 from the Treasury Department as tax refund. This can’t be the regular tax refund because we actually owed taxes and made tax payment on April 15th. The only possibility is that this is the economic stimulus payment that we were supposed to get last week. Then again, the amount we received is different from what we expect to get. According to our filed tax return, we should get a little over $400 in refund based on our 2007 taxable income. That $201.10 is more like half of what we should receive than the full amount.
Tonight, a notice from IRS arrived, which says we are “entitled to an economic stimulus payment of $383.95″ and we can expect the payment by 06/13/08, which is last Friday. So that is indeed the stimulus payment. But why the difference between the two amounts and they are all different from what we thought we can get?
Have you received your payment yet? If so, did you notice any such discrepancy?
I wounder if I should contact the IRS and find out why. It’s not going to be easy, but I want to get what we are entitled to.
