PNC sucks big time. Two recent events: 1) we have used online bill pay for years. One of the recurring bill payments I have setup is for my auto loan. I don't touch it, it just gets paid because I setup the recurring. I went in to ADD a new bill payee and I noticed my February recurring payment was CANCELLED. No, I didn't do it. The bank totally denied any bank error. They said I must have cancelled it. Sure, right out of the blue in the middle of a 36 month loan payment, I decide to cancel just ONE payment. 2) We have combined personal and business online account. I always transfer funds between our accounts as needed. Low and behold, I go in today and the business checking account is not listed...it's just GONE. Call the bank. The response was: this account was never setup for online banking. Oh, sure, so why is our other business accounts showing online and just not this one? And how did I do the transfers for all these years? I am telling you, PNC is arrogant, unprofessional, rude and incompetent. SUCKS!

Blame banks, thats what banks want apathetic Americans to do. Banks deemd too large to fail know how complacent and ignorant American citizens are. If we all simply left our loans (liabilities) at these banks, yet moved our payroll and savings deposits to a credit union or community bank, THEY WILL PANIC. Literally, we the people can shut down any bank, regardless of size, regardless of how much welfare our crooked government gives them. But, we could care less about our childresn financial futures, and we'll keep banking with these crooks until we die. Its sad, we're so lazy now that the mere inconvenience of switching banks is reason to endure these fees. I dont hate any bank, the 20 largest banks in America are all the same. They are wiser and more energetic than us. THey know we'll just blow hot air on blogs and come Friday???? Yes, those precious deposits flow into their tier one ratio accounts. Hats off to you big bankers, you hit the nail on the head. Americans are TOO IGNORANT AND LAZY to close our accounts with you. My congratulations on your brilliant assesment of our LACK of resolve.

I've tried WoodForest (WalMart) and it has not been bad. They will work with you. PNC is just looking for the bottom line. They are the ones that gave Rendell the idea of putting a sales tax on ATM withdraw fees.

Same scenrio happend to me. I was told by the agent if I were to have a direct deposit of 300 by the end of three months that i would receive a bonus of $100. Today is the end of the month and now they are stating that I had to make a direct deposit of $300. I told that that was what happend. They said no. That I had 2 deposits equally $300 not a single direct deposit of $300.
I am going somewhere else

Two really bad experiences with business services/accounts are detailed below.

1 Safe deposit box. One of my companies had a safe deposit box at the Craig Street branch of PNC in Pittsburgh, PA. I drop important corporate papers off for safe keeping once or twice a year. I came to place more documents in after not visiting for about 8-9 months. I had my key but not the box number. They looked and looked but could find no record of my box. At one point, I showed them an empty box without locks and said it was somewhere in that area. My key would not open any boxes. I came back three more times asking if they found my box and it contents. On the fourth visit, the bank manager found the papers and I signed for them. She explained that my company did not pay and so they drilled the locks. We never received an invoice. I indicated that the company name was on the account and that there are these things called the Internet and the telephone directory that lists my company and its contact information. I also mentioned that it did not take a genius to use either.

2 International letter of credit. Another firm I run needed an LC for payment to a manufacturer in China, about $10,000. This was out of the Squirrel Hill branch in Pittsburgh, PA and the LC department in Philadelphia I believe. They ended up charging more than $600 for a *fully* collateralized LC. The collateral was cash in a PNC account. They took no risk and shuffled some papers for more than 6% in fees. Despite insisting through the process that they would charge several hundred dollars less, they levied the fees anyway.

Naturally, all these accounts were changed over to Schwab and Citizens. Citizens actually has friendly and helpful service. They have not charged fees that were not clearly enunciated ahead of time. BTW, international wire transfer fees are about 60% less at Citizens.

PNC misrepresented a mortgage loan. The loan officer gave me a 5/20 , mortgage explaing it as a 20 year mortgage with a 5 year fixed rate with a variable rate rolling over afterwards. Turns out it's only a five year mortage with a balloon due after 60 months. When I questioned the balloon, I was told that it was no concern as it will rollover. Now the balloon is due if I don't refinance with fees, this is after I already paid 5 years of heavy interest already

On each page of the www.CallMyBank.org site you will find a PDF of questions to ask banks regarding opening an account with them.
You can call each bank (including foreign banks) collect by reversing the charges so that the banks pay for the call.
You can ask them the questions (at length), and they have to answer these questions to your satisfaction.
So I would suggest that everyone calls the banks having the banks pay for the call --- after all, it is YOUR (our) money that they spend with impunity, so why not make them spend a little of it on US and not on them!?

Well for one thing, I know many people who work at PNC and I use PNC. If an employee messed up a promotional code on your account, it is their fault, not the bank's. PNC always has promotions giving away money to new customers who add direct deposit to a free checking account (FREE as in free for life, not free for one year like most banks). And the whole thing about floating your money and delaying your funds from being available - completely untrue! When I go to PNC and deposit a check, it clears overnight if it's a local check, and it takes 2 days if it is non-local. PNC is one of the strongest banks on the East Coast and is getting much bigger. They will not be going under like WaMu or Wachovia. Sorry this guy had a bad experience, but I refer all my friends, family and co-workers to PNC and they all love it there.

Don't do business with PNC bank. This bank is in real bad shape with cash reserve. They are crooks. If you put large amounts of money is this bank, good luck getting it back. This bank floats your money for months before they make your funds available. Thats so it could look like they have lots of cash in deposits for investors. You can take them to court to get your funds release and they still ignor the court orders. I suspect this bank has done real bad on the stress test. Take this as a warning. This bank is the worst bank for the average consumer to do business with. Don't be supries if they are the next big bank to go belly up like WAMU. TAKE YOUR MONEY OUT THIS BANK AND RUN.

That's exactly my concerns. It's just a little over two months and they can't even find a record of their own promotion. From this incident, you really can't trust the bank for pretty much anything. No wonder they are in such a mess.

Wow. If the bank can't even track of their own promotions I would not trust them with my money.
