Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards Plus Credit Card $400 Promotion

I have never traveled with Southwest Airlines before, but I have heard some pretty nice words about the low-cost carrier and its services. For example, last Thanksgiving our whole family took a trip to Disney World down in Florida. While searching for cheap tickets, I also looked for airlines that don’t charge $30 for the first checked-in luggage. Since the price of the ticket was just a little over $200, the checked-in luggage fee actually presented more than 10% of the airfare.  That’s a lot of money for a two-hour travel. It turned out that Southwest was the only airline that doesn’t charge a fee for 2 pieces of checked baggage per person. Unfortunately, the time wasn’t right for us for that trip. Eventually, we had to take United and pay the fee for one luggage. Though we didn’t take Southwest last time, it’s still good to know that we could save some money with the airline. Next time, maybe we should check it out first :)

If you travel a lot with Southwest, which has received multiple awards for its services over the years, having a Southwest Airlines credit card can help a lot in accumulating frequent flyer miles. If you are considering getting one, then check out the all new Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards Plus Credit Card from Chase, which is a Southwest Airlines Rewards Card that allows you to earn free flights faster than most other airline rewards cards. The biggest benefit of the Rapid Rewards Card is that, with the card, you can earn 2 points for every $1 you spend on Southwest flights, Rapid Rewards hotel and Car Rental Partner purchase, which could be ideal if you are a frequent flyer of Southwest. In addition to earning points with flights and hotel, you can also earn 1 point per dollar on purchases made elsewhere. Basically, you earn points for every dollar you spend on the card, no matter where you use the card.

But that’s not all. On every anniversary of being a cardholder, you can receive an additional 3,000 points as bonus, which is equivalent to $50 that you can use toward a Wanna Get Away Fare from Southwest.

If you are interested in getting a Rapid Rewards Plus Card, Chase is  now offering 25,000 bonus points for new cardholders after the first purchase is made with the card. The bonus points are equivalent to over $400 in Wanna Get Away Fares that can be redeemed for one free round-trip flight. And if you use the new card to make a balance transfer, which has a 3% balance transfer fee, you can earn 1 point per dollar transferred for up to 10,000 points within 90 days.  That’s a little different from other airline rewards cards since they don’t usually give points for balance transfer. Points earned through the rewards program don’t expire and can be redeemed for international travel, hotels, gift cards, and more.

Following is a list of main benefits of the Chase Southwest Rapid Rewards Plus Card to give you a clear idea of what you are going to get when becoming a cardholder.

  • Get 25,000 Points toward free flight after your first purchase
  • Get 3,000 Points every year on your Card member Anniversary that’s equal to $50 toward a Wanna Get Away Fare
  • Earn 2 Points per $1 spent on Southwest Airlines purchases, 2 Points on every dollar spent Southwest Rapid Rewards Hotel and Car Rental, and 1 point per $1 on all other purchases
  • No Blackout Dates, Unlimited Reward Seats

All these benefits come with an annual fee of $69.
