Do you know what they are?

Han Banquet

They are dishes of a royal banquet that was first made 300 years ago. The name is Han Banquet (Chinese name 满汉全席). It’s one of the most famous Chinese banquets that started in the Qing Dynasty. It was a collection of Manchu and Han banquet prepared for the 66th birthday of Kangxi Emperor. There were a total of 320 dishes that were served in 6 banquets over 3 days. Of course, nobody makes those dishes nowadays any more. So those in the above picture aren’t real food. Then what are they made of? Well, they are actually stones (that’s right, they are all stones). My parents took the picture from a geological museum not too far away from where they live. They look so real, don’t they? I will have to check it out myself next time I go back to China :)

That is so awesome! I love food!

I remember when my great grandmother turned 100. There was a huge 3-day party with different foods that kept coming out. It was so amazing!
