Top 65 PF Blogs by Technorati Ranking

OK, so far we have seen rankings of personal finance bloggers by del.icio.us bookmarks (Will Chen @ Wise Bread), Feedburner feeds (Yan @ ProBargainHuner), and Alexa’s traffic scores (Jim @ Blueprint for Financial Prosperity). I think it’s fun to read the list and decided to come up with yet another one using another gauge to measure the popularity of PF blogs: the Technorati ranking. The candidates are from the three lists mentioned above. Since I didn’t try to check the ranks of all the PF blogs out there, the list is by no means complete. And the numbers are collected between 3:00 and 4:00 pm on February 7th, 2007.

It’s interesting to look at the number of links to a blog compared to the blog’s ranking. For example Lazy Man and Money has 418 links from 102 blogs yet Money Smart Life has a higher ranking with only 236 links. I guess that’s what he gets for being lazy :)

All these ranking things are so unreliable! I’ve emailed Technorati a couple of times about problems– they claim my blog hasn’t been updated in almost a year even though I’ve tried to manually ping them several times, and sometimes when I do a search they tell me my blog doesn’t even exist!

Madame X: It’s true that all these ranks are different and none can be viewed as very reliable. However, for your case, at least it says your blog has some issues with Technorati. Do you have an account with them and claim your blog? I heard others who also don’t a Technorati rank mentioned this, but not sure if that’s the reason. Though having a rank or not won’t change anything, I still think it’s good to resolve the issue with Technorati for the publicity of your blog.

Wow, Another list! Anybody else wants to try some other metric? Just don’t do delicious, my titles have changed and my favorites are scattered and I won’t do too well there….. Or sitemeter stats…I keep it private for a reason! ;) Ok kidding of course. Thanks for the info Sun! Seemed like you and Jim and the rest who did lists put in some serious work and effort looking stuff up!

Thanks for going beyond the listing and including DMWT. I’ve never understood how Technorati works and early in my blog’s life had much difficulty getting posts and links to show up there. But since it seems to be the 800 pound gorilla, I keep plugging away.
