Here’s a excellent use for a portable GPS that I heard from a colleague. His found a great use during vacation when he is 3-4 hours early for a flight. With a GPS, he can find a nearby attraction or restaurant. The GPS allows them to quickly get there and also get to the airport in time.

GPS is actually a great gift. I’m glad you explained how you got it after you said “It didn’t come from my wife”
